Subject: Which component speakers should I buy? IP: Logged
Message: I am interested in upgrading the interior speakers in my 98 dakota. I have been looking at the infinty kappa series, specifically the 60.5cs.
I was wondering if anyone has used these and what the think of them or if you prefer another comparably priced component speaker set.
Also, I would like to replace the rear speakers, but I am not sure what speakers I should consider (2-way, 3-way, etc.) Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated.

Message: Infinity makes good speakers for the price. I tend to lean towards Polk Audio in that price range. If you really want great speakers, go for MB Quart. They are German, and are among the best component speakers available (without going off the deep end). Diamond Audio makes incredible stuff, too.
You don't need three way speakers for car audio, since the bass part of the 2-way speaker is pretty much your midrange. For home audio, you usually have a 8-15 inch woofer, a midrange, and a tweeter. You are already doing that in your truck by adding subs, components, and 2-way speakers. There are a lot of "good" speakers out there for not much money. All the Kenwoods, Sony's, Pioneer's, etc. are all going to be about the same. Your midrange and tweets are your most important part, at least in my mind. Do it right the first time.
Hope that helps a little.

Message: I agree those are good speakers...but I'm running a set of Boston Acoustics and for the price range they are in they are probably the best sounding speakers I've ever heard

Message: Count me in for MB quart. Like stated diamond are also great. I've run both and been happy. The infinity's were lacking the bass. I had to cross them over at 80hz where as the quarts I did 60hz.

Message: I have Kappas in my Quad and love the sound quality and to kick up the bass a notch I upgraded the 6 1/2 in the rear to 6x9. To get all you can out of them make sure you seal the speakers up were they mount with door & window caulk. It creates a gasket type seal between your speaker and the door, really improving the bass response. I also mounted my tweeters in the upper corners of the A pillars, flush mounted in the headliner right above were the trim piece ends. And might I say that it has excellent staging.
Z-Tube, R/T Rims, SSB Rear Disc Conversion, Alpine Head-Unit, Infinity Kappa Speakers, SilverStar Headlights, HO Cams & Intake installed.

Message: You should go to the local audio shop and listen to different one. Everyone has different tastes in what speaker sounds best, it depends on what music you like.
Personally I enjoy sound quality and good staging, so I chose Infinity Kappa Components for the front and upgraded to 6x9s in the rear for a little extra bass.
