Message: Easy, on a '98 dak slt cc w/infinity..
Head down to the local parts parts store, or auto audio store, get a wire harness adapter for your new unit, and dash kit for the dakota.. both are redily available.
Get youself a wire stripper/crimp tool, and a handfull of butt or end connectors..
The dash trim peice pops off, pry from the bottom, tilt the steering wheel down first. There are 1 or 2 screws holding the factory unit in place, mine only had 1 a 10mm, remove and pull on the unit. Then unplug the wire harness 2 connectors 1 gray and 1 black plus a ground wire and the antenna. The old unit is out.
Wire the harness, follow the connections on the harness directions, to your new unit.
Reverse above removal.., install the dash kit, plug in the ground, antenna, gray/black connectors to the harness. Now is a good time to test the install ! Slide the new unit into the dash kit, reinstall the dash cover peice. Rock on..
Note the factory infinity already has an integrated internal amp behind the passenger kick panel.

Message: It is realy that easy. You can cut out the amp if you want and use the amp in the headunit if you wnat to. the amp is easy to find, take off the right Kick panel and there are 2 plugs. One coming from the headunit with 8 wires and one leaving with 12 wires, the 4 extra wires are Power and ground, 2 for each. If you jumper it or cut the amp out of the look, pull the fuse in the panal in the left side.
One other note, ther might be one other wire that is just one conecter what lookes to be the body of the radio. This has something to do with the dimming from what i can find, jsut leave it unpluged and it will be all good.
