Message: I have seen JL Audio and Sony Xplode subwoofers used in the MTX Thunderform box. As long as it's 10" subwoofers they will fit fine.

Message: you had better check the size of the magnets on the other speakers you want to use in place of the MTX's. Not all 10 inch subs are the same. It depeans on the size of the magnet's.

Message: Not any 10 inch sub will fit. Actually---very few subs will fit because of the magnet size. I ended up getting an older pair of IDQ10's by image dynamics. The new one's do not fit.

Message: pondhopr-
How do your IDQ 10's sound? I just picked up a pair off of ebay, the version 1 model for $115 and I'm itching to get them in, and just very curious as to how they sound.
Thanks,
Greg D.

Message: I would not spend to much money on new subs for the thunderform. I ha ve on in my 01' CC and was recently trying to do the same thing, but was told by many stereo stores that it would be a waste because you can't get more out of the actualy thunderform box. just thought I would let ya know!

Message: The stereo shop that did my install said the T-form was actually a good box. Sure, ABS plastic ain't the best, but for what it is, it's a great box, and my IDQ DVC 10's sound awsome in my T-form. I've been asked if I had twelves before. Plus that fact that you can't even tell I have a system in my truck unless I show you or turn it on is great.

Message: Several of you have mentioned that you have used IDQ 10 or 12's in your T-form boxes. First of all, do they fit properly in the box or do they stick up?
Secondly, what is the difference in between the IDQ 10 ad the IDQ 12 and does DVC vs. single coil make a difference?

Message: The IDQ 10 is 10" diameter and will fit just fine in the MTX box, the IDQ 12 is a 12" sub and is to large to fit the box. The only way I've seen IDQs are DVC, and DVCs are supposedly better for sound quality. I've heard the newer IDQs might need a real short spacer because of a larger magnet on them.

Message: I am considering buying the mtx thunderform from crutchfield, but I am not sure what speaker to put in it, any suggestions? Do the mtx 6000's sound good? Do you think the box is worth the money?

Message: The box is worth the money, but not the price Crutchfeild charges for it. There are many cheaper places to buy it from. The MTX's are good subs and sound good if you aren't looking for heavy hard hitting bass, and just want some extra bass for your system. As you can see from this thread a lot of people recomend the IDQ subs. They are fairly cheap, and sound awsome.

Message: Jonas from Premiere Automotive sells these for much cheaper I believe. Just search for his name and email, and he'll get you a link to his website. I'm gonna get the unloaded box for $180, much cheaper than Crutchfield.

Message: The JL Audio 10W6 10" subs will fit in the MTX Thunderform's box. These are some pretty impressive subs, but they will need a serious amp to drive them!
Enjoy,
