Subject: Kicker Comp vr .... IP: Logged
Message: I have a 97 dakota and was planning on removing the larger of the two back seats and running a virtual tech .. ported box. I was looking into two of the kick comp vrs 10s or 12s because I know they hit hard.. and I can get them at a cheap price. Does anyone have any suggestions on the amp to use..I have a precision power,(ppi) pc2150, which was an unbelievable amp in my brother in laws jeep, but don't know how it will go. Before I build the box I'd like to hear anyones input.
Thanks

Message: Slammed00RT do you have this amp? Have you compared it to other amps? I mean it's a good amp but you can get the same power/features from other amps for a lot less money than a bd1000.
Are the subs you are planning on getting SVC or DVC and what impedences on those coils?

Message: Virtual tech is what I've always known the box as, maybe theres a more common name that I'm not aware of, just a dual 10" with rectangular vents on sides. Not a kit, making from 3/4 mdf.
I hadn't looked into it too much but the subs would probablly be 4ohm dvc, but what would someone who has used to the kickers recommend, voice coil, and amp wise.
Open to any suggestions

Message: Is the side of the box used as part of the port? If so what you are describing is called a "slot ported box"

Message: Ben,
If you are going with Kickers, even if not, check out the support section of their web-site http://www.kicker.com/Support.cfm
Look at the Tech Tips, Technical information, and Installatiom manuals. Lots of good information.
Dual or Single voice coils, size and type enclosure, depends on the Amp you decide to go with and the sound you expect to get. They should all match. If the Amp works best with a 4 Ohm load, you should match your speakers to this load for best performance..

Message: i tried ebay and never got my subs, but i got my money back. Try cmttrading.com or etronics.com. kicker cvr 10s for like 65 bucks a piece.
I have two kicker cvr 10s pushed by a rockford fosgate punch 900 watt amp. They are dual voice coil at 4 ohms. i have both speakers running on the same bridge on the amp creating a 4 ohm load total.(the amp is stable down to 4 ohms bridged. the subs are in a sealed fiberglass box that i built to fit under the rear seat of my 92 dakota. the punch 900 301s is a little too much amp for the pair of subs. i rarely crank the amp all the way up. all in all the setup is pretty nice. sounds great too.
by the way, i got the amp and two subs off of cmttrading.com and paid 300 bucks for it all, including shipping and handling.

Message: I goto a place in Houston, Tx called "KING KONG Wholesale Audio" alot that has the COMP VR's for extreamly cheap.
My brother baught 2 12s for like....$165 I do beleive. And my god, his Intrepid is about to blow up with all that thump.
I'm getting ready to sell this Solo Baric 15" I have and buy me a Kicker COMP VR 18"....I heard one and it hit amazing and clear, unlike this loud and sloppy Solo Baric.
Solo Barics are only good for some one that just wants to be heard 4 blocks away.
Ah, I went off subject.
I just wanted to say that I can get any car audio equipment from subs to amps, to screens to 7s for the doors.
Pyro_the_Clown@hotmail.com
Thats my eMail if you are interested. I'll only charge the shipping price. I go there alot so its not like I would have to go out of my way or nothing.
