Subject: HELP, subs in SB ringing. IP: Logged
Message: Ok, Ive been doing alot with my subs lately. I built a sealed box outa 3/4in MDF. All with liquid nails on all edges, screw holes, etc. Thwn with caulk over that. I ran the subs for a week or so and they sounded great. Nice deep tone.
I decided to cover the box with felt to make it look better. Used 3/8in staples to hold it down. Ran it under the subs rim to hold down on top. Now my subs sound like sh!t. Real pingy and ringy sounding. No bass. Just wierd vibrations out them. I tried tightening the screws down. No good. Next Im gonna remove the felt from around the speaker rim. And re seal all the mounting screws. The left sub sounded great when I applied alittle pressure to the cone. But I let up and back to the crap.
Help me out here please. This is begining to drive me crazy. Thx

Message: The carpet under the spkr mounting ring... may have disrupted the sealed integrity of your enclosure.

Message: Get some spray glue and use that to hold the material on the box, and don't use it near the subs. You may also have stripped out your mounting holes, make sure they can still hold. You lost your seal, and the subs are not going to sound good with that much of an air leak.

Message: Thanks guys. I have played around with it a bit and I believe the felt was messen with it. I pulled it out on one sub and it hits alot better. Thanks again
