I just picked up a 2k r/t cc last night, I love it already but the stock system sucks. I am tight on funds but just off the bat where is the weak link? .. I'm assuming it came with the "premium" sound package because it has infinity stamped on the front component set and I assume the rears are infinity too. the deck is a cd/tape/radio setup. should I drop money on speakers or the deck? If I go w/ the deck, is there a kit which turns the bottom area into a storage pocket or something? OR are there any HOT double-din chrysler decks that will consume the whole area?

The Chrysler head unit is a din and a half, not double din. Alpine makes the best looking head unit in the 1.5 din size IMO. CDA-857 is the number I beleive. I have the CDA-855, but they have upgraded since then. As far as the weak link, you just need more bass than the stock speakers can handle so a MTX Thunderform is what you need. Put two 10" subs under the rear seat where nobody can see them.

Well, you could go with the thunderforms, but you didnt say you wanted more bass (Not to mention my hatred for the MTX Thunderforms is beyond comprehension.) If you dont want mass amounts of bass look into getting some new speakers. You could get component speakers up front with some good speakers with some bass in the back without having to put in subs.....It matters how much you got to spend and what you want._KrEzEr_

if you're not an audiophile, you'de be surprised at the amount of bass that will come out of a GOOD set of components....try those and see how it sounds...

I'm interested in bass just not before xmas. I was thinking thunderform box w/ audiobahn speakers but anyhow I just need a fix for the immediate problem, the speakers are horrible and the reception sucks. I am going to check out that alpine din.5 for sure. I think mtx speakers suck, even polk makes a "bargain" sub which sounds twice as clean/solid. anyhow, yeah I think i'll try to go with a component set and the deck.. any suggestions on a good 4-way amp for around 200 bucks? I'll get the component set and replace the 5.25's in the back .. or are they bigger? Thanks guys!

A good 4-way Amp is the Eclipse EA3422 4/3/2. You can check it out a ebay.com/ Item#1395576691. I use this amp to run a set of componets and rear speakers. It is a great amp. Cleanest sounding ever.
The Front's are 6 3/4 and the Rears are either 6 3/4 or 6 1/2.
