Dont want you to think that im hating on you. Just for a dakota to have 1400 Watts to EACH sub and 200 to EACH componet is a lot of power if your talking RMS. 900 clean watts cost me a lot

I am pushing 1000 rms to each of my 4 12inch subs and 620 to my 6inch component set so that means well over 1620 watts rms. I also hit 161.2 Db's now thats impressive.

2 jbl 1200.1's into two adire audio brahma 10's www.hypaudio.com when u go there you have to look at what volts they rate it at. they rate it at 10.something and u do know car audio runs off 12 volt. i have a cdt eurosport 6.5 component and cdt 5.25 component. then for an amp i have 2 lanzars bridged into all components. you have obviosly not done any reaserch whatsoever if u think legacy is the only company who sells high wattage amps. no i don't have pics. i am lacking in the category of a good old digital camera. if you think 900 rms costs a lot you are shopping at a horrible place.

dak is right with a good 14 volts the JBL's are capable of doing 1400 watts. However he seemed serious on believing that legacy amps are 1400 watts with BS. I'd like to see what they really do. I'd guess maybe 400 but prolly not even that.

Flammed R/T, your gonna get flamed. I call BS on 4 12's and 1000 watts doing a 161.

As for me I'm running a 3400 watt amp to my pair of 15's and 600 to my components. So total is 4K. I have 4 deep cycle batteries and am getting a 300amp alt.

I also have to say that : dak is BS

the simple electronic law with all that amperage....suprized any thing electrical works in ur truck...

seeing most companies leave a 30% slack on the electrical system. so by what he said : 3600WattsRMSx12V= 300AMPS

that WAY MORE than a stock alt can put out.

only way you can get that it like run 3 alts at the same time and have 3 batteries in a row..

I'm calling BS on this one...

The more I read his post the more I question he has that stuff also but on the other hand it is possible. I have a friend with a dakota who's running a 4000X with not much problem. That one amp will outpower the 2 jbl's easy and the jbl's are more effecient too. I also used to have 2 memphis 1000D's in my truck. With only one extra battery the lights wouldn't dim at all. With 4 there was a little dimming but still not terrible.

ALPINE CDA-7998 $800
KENWOOD KAC-x501f $600
KENWOOD KAC-401M $600
Boston Rallys $300
Polk EX 365s $120
JL Dash tweeters $50
IDQ 12 V.2 D4 $200
Wires installs ect. $300
Cap. $100
I was just saying for a small Truck thats a lot of watts you must of spent a lot of money to get that many watts RMS to each speaker

Lose the jensen amp. Everyone I've seen hooked up first hand has caught fire within a year. In fact anything made by jensen will fall apart. We had a face fall of a cd player too. If your lights are dimming now with a 3 watt jensen when you uprgade to a 1000-1200 watt amp your going to need 4 gauge power wire and 4 gauge ground wire. Uprgrade the power and ground under your hood and get a good battery. If that isn't enough you may need a larger alternator or a new one. Do you have a 4 cyl with no power options?

thanx for the info BIGTYMER,i have a 01 dakota 4.7 cc with all power options.i had alot of people tell me that jenson sux,but my friends always said they have never seen a 300 watt jenson push my system that good back when i only had one 12 inch crossfire bmf sub they could hear me before they seen me coming.but i have to agree with you eventhough my one 12 and the 300 watt hit hard and gave me no probs except shuting of when it got hot,i'll never go jenson again.anyways sense i wrote last i got a 800x2 watt soundstorm amp and would like some info on the amp?when i got it i didnt have alot of money to spend but diffenatly wanted an amp,so i got the soundstorm amp they said if i dont like it i could bring it back an pay the differece on another amp within 30 days.any info would be greatly appreciated.i paid $185 for the amp and if i get another one when i get more money i would like to spend around $350 or so.

midnightdak, what size is your wire? If it's an 8 gauge you should be ok but a 10 gauge is kinda small. If you have a 10 guage you might as well run a 4 gauge because if you uprgade again later you'll have a big enough wire to handle it. Or if you run an amp for your mids you can run the 4 gauge to a distro block and then two short runs of 8 gauge.

Todd, I have 4 SVR 80-12 battery's in my truck. These are gel cell, deep cycle batterys designed specifically for car audio use. I'm also getting a 300 amp alternator. There is a guy that does them named domanic. He does good work. His alternators are actually better than powermaster and ohio generators because they put out the same amperage but at lower RPM levels. If anyone is interested in contacting him I can get you his e-mail addy.

Oh yeah any one else w/ a KAC-x401M You CAN RUN this at 1 OHM It puts out 1200w RMS at 14.4 and 800 at 12V just change out the 4 15 amp to 4 20 amps. and give it a 1ohm load.

I have a jensen cd player with a 400w jensen amp. For what i paid for them they have held up awesome. They give my MTX 10" subs a nice clean hit with highs and low. Had them for about 3 years now. Just never wanted to spend the extra cash on the audio components instead of working under the hood or the exterior of the truck.

3200 watts rms, on one Digital Designs 9515, plus 500 for comp sets, 3700 watts RMS total, running two everstart 1000cca batts and only getting a voltage drop down to 12.3 on burps, and as for the guy who said he did a 161.2 i am calling MAJOR B.S. i am an avid competitor i drive all over the country every weekend for competitions, my truck shows it too ;0( had it since june, had 2 miles when i bought it, now has 14,000 anyway, i'm doing any where from 148's to 156's depending uppon organization, doing 148's in NSPL 152's in MECA and 156's in DB Drag, also, the amps that i am running are mmats d300hc's they are rated at 1200 watts if you look them up, but if you do further research you will find that they do a consistant 1700 and with the right electrical sytem they do 1800, so the 3200 watt rating was quite modest

lacent, you got modded amps with the extra cap? If not, your not gonna see that 1800... I've seen 1400-1500 with a good electrical system and 1700-1800 with the modded versions. BTW you must be fairly close to me if you compete in NSPL. I live in central NC.

How is 161 with 4 12's not possible? Anybody heard of that guy who hit over 170 with one sub? True his install was real extreme, but it's not impossible. I've seen a guy hit 155 with 4 12's and 1000 watts, in a sealed box and in just a drop in install in his cutlass. I've also seen another guy hit 154 with 4 10's and 500 watts in his truck. It's about install, and I'm surprised lacent doesn't know that.

About wire sizes, it's pretty simple. I wouldn't use anything but 8 guage or bigger. over 500 watts I would use 4 guage, up around 1500 I'd step up to 2 guage. Oh, and caps are worthless. Don't buy them, they are a waste of money. Take your 100 bucks and buy a red top battery or something. Higher CCA batteries help a million times more than a cap. I don't know why people still buy them.

And dakotaman, he can pull quite a bit of power from the battery. might kill his system pretty quick, but it's possible. Plus there's no way he's getting full output from his amps because he doesn't have the power supply to get there. However i will say it's not impossible, because on heavy bass your amps get their power from the battery, hence the 14 to 12 volt drop, and batteries can supply quite a few amps.

As far as the question at hand, i run about 1300 watts RMS from a Memphis 1000D and a lightning audio strike S4.300. My best output from my 2 Crossfire BMF 12's is 148.5.
