Subject: Engine noise through the subs.. IP: Logged
Message: Whats up guys. I need some input and I am hoping you can help. My ssytem consists of 2 10"solobarics in a sealed box powered by an 800W amp and then I have a seperate amp that powers my other accessories. My problem is that I hear engine noise through my subwoofers. It's like a high pitch cry kinda. I'm not sure if its maybe because the wiring is bad, or because there is something wrong with the woofers. The wiring is on the drivers side if that helps any.
thanks in advance
Mike

Message: Dude it the sound of ur altnerator in the subs..
CHeck these...
Make sure the Ground wire has good contact w/ the BARE METAL of the truck...
Shorten the size of the ground wire...
Test out ur Patch cables for noise...
Run the Power wires and the patch cables on either side of the truck...
Hope this helps...

Message: You most likely ran the control wire (single wire that runs from deck to amp to tell it when to turn on etc.) with your RCA'a. This is a no no.
The control wire must be ran on the opposite side of the vehicle in relation to the RCA's. This will fix your problem. Good luck!

Message: Dakota Man is right you are getting Alt. whine through you subs. Check the power and ground going to your sub amp, make sure they are not next to your RCA's.
To put it simply, keep your power and signal wires as far apart as possible. (i.e. opposite sides of the truck.)

Message: another note: if you must or have to have them cross do it at like a 90 degree angle so that there is less chance of the road noise

Message: it is when power and rcas cross that is bad. just turn the gain down then it goes away. if the wpower and rcas don't cross then u just need to turn the gain down cause u are pushing your amp too hard

Message: I had that same problem with mine. To fix it, I just wrapped a bare piece of wire around the metal part of the RCA cable that is plugged into the head unit. And then grounded the other end to the back of the unit. So pretty much, you need to ground your RCAs somehow. Worked perfect for me.
