Message: Which catback exhaust system do you think works best? Truckperformance.com shows a Gibson makes 30 ft/lbs, and I sure as hell dont believe that. Both are about same price, just wondering who has which and how much they paid.

Message: I have always used Flowmaster and have a 40 Series Flowmaster catback stainless exhaust with Delta Flow(reduced interior resonance at idle and cruising speeds) on my 01 CC 4.7 4x4 and the beautiful exhaust note cannot be mistaken for any other system when your foot gets heavy. My 99 SC 3.9 had Flowmaster also. My understanding is that the 4.7 Flowmaster exhaust system when used with an aftermarket Air Intake(proven to make rearwheel horsepower or torque) can result in upto 5hp at rearwheel and increased lowend power. I have an AirRaid Intake and do notice more power for both passing and accelerating from a stop than stock.

Message: I acutally used the 60 series muffler(single in, dual out) per recommendation from Flowmaster, the 40/50 series would reduce backpressure too much and gas mileage/performance would suffer. They did not make a cat back system for the 3.9 at the time(they may now?) so I had a custom exhaust made at Cole Muffler with the duals both exiting at stock location. I ended up with a very throaty sound for a V-6, could not really tell at idle, but what a difference from stock under acceleration.

Message: I had not heard at all that the 40 and 50 series affected performance on the V6s. Anyone else know this to be true? I had ordered a 50 series delta flow and its arriving tomorrow. I could use some advice before then to know if i really wanna slap it on or not.

Message: I have a 01 5.9 and I put on a 40 series Flowmaster w/ 3-1/2" chrome tips and I also have an Airaid like that one dude and I can also tell there if more power. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see why Flowmaster would produce a muffler like the 60 but on their other ones like the 40 and 50 it would have too much backpressure...U'd think they'd make it to where they were all the same.

Message: If you're looking for throaty deep sound try Flo-Pro. www.flopro.com/flopro.htm
I had one on my 97 cc 4x4 3.9L and it sounded awesome. Made it sound more like a V8 with a deep roar. A custom dual with the flo-pro and a K&N filter gave me noticeable increase in power and acceleration on that truck. I just installed the same system on my new 01 quad cab 4x4 4.7L with an Airraid and it sounds even better. Not as much increase in power though as on my old V6, I'm not sure why. The Flo=pro sounds great though.
