 Subject: Replacing flowmaster

I bought my 99 rc r/t in november and have been wanting a new exhaust. It already has dual cat-back. I was looking under to see what kind. The muffler is a flowmaster but it definitly doesn't sound like one and it isn't as loud as I would like it. It is actually about as quiet as stock. Could this be because of the type of flowmaster muffler and the fact that I think the piping is 2". I would like to put a flowmaster super 40 on it. Should I replace the piping as well?
