Subject: Ticking, driving me crazy IP: Logged
Message: I have a 98 dakota with the motor fully built. My prob. is im getting a ticking sound, sounds like a lifter just not quite as loud. I've put 3 sets of lifters in it, still there, sound gets worse when the engine is hot. I have a set of the crower 1.7 rollers, could this be my sound due to possibly out of adjustment? I know the lifter bores are right (i just mic'd them today) so i know the oil clearances are spot on , so this is all i can come up with. any replies on what this is please respond.

Message: It could be an exaust leak they can make a ticking noise that is hard to find. I sounds like a valve train noise but it is not.
