Subject: V6 Dak. vs. 5 Spd. Tiburon IP: Logged
Message: Last night i pulled up to a stop light and a guy in a tiburon 4 cyl. 5 spd. revs his puny lil engine to scare me! (OMG!)...anywayz...LMAO...I reved mined....to let him know that he will probably lose...but i didnt know!
We lined them up and at the light we went! Since I had completely no traction he jumped about 3/4 car in front of me and then i caught him in first and passed him in second...very close race...right around 71 mph i shifted into 3rd and he was at my bumper and was barley gaining on me...i was surprised but we stoped at 76 or so...and wanted to know what i had done to my truck...i said its stock witht the exhaust and he said no way he raped a v6 dakota before and it had a 5 speed...he also said he had a $550 racing clutch! (MY AZZ!) even if he did that Tiburon WENT DOWN...and i congratulated my self with a nice kill.....let the flaming begin!
BTW i have the following:
3.9L ext cab Dakota
Flows 40 series
gutted cat
180 T/S (and it was 40 degrees outside so....)
v8 TB ( still not sure if it is working)
s-bolt mod(that too)

Message: Well, I guess my Gen II extended cab V6 is worth something.
I have a 160 degree thermostat and its been 40 degrees out.
Will I get better performance when its warmer?
Thanks

Message: You need to up that thermostat to a 180. 160 won't let your truck warm up enough to go into a closed loop...which means you will actually probably notice a decrease in performance. Our truck engines were designed to run best at 185*F...which is about the temp where a 180*F thermo will open.
