Subject: cigarette lighter power-all-the-time IP: Logged
Message: Have a question about how to switch the fuses to allow all-the-time power to my dash board cigarette lighter outlet.
My Owner's manual does not address this, so any help will be appreciated!!
Thanks!!

Message: I played w/ that when I fist bought my truck in '98. Behind the center plastic dash piece, there is a second plug that looks like the one plugged in the cig. lighter, only a different color. That one is a constant hot, but I couldn't get mine to fit in the cig. hole. Having no fear, I snipped the wires and swapped plugs(added the wires to the CB in the process).

Message: The wire connecting to the round nub on the end of the lighter assembly is the possitive and the ground connects to the outter casing. At least that's how the stock wiring was for my 93 dakota sport

Message: my 97 has, as an ooption, TWO cig lighter outlets in the dash. one is a full lighter and the other has a plastic cap to cover it when not in use but is in an always on state. That is the why you have a second always hot wire behind your dash, the truck was designed for it but the original buyer did not want it.
