I have a 1990 Dak with alot of mods but I am always looking for the next step. Thanks.
Grant, you can get edlebrock headers (I think)from summit for just over $200. I installed them on my 1990 And I like them.
Good Luck.

Message: Hey, My headers are Edlebrocks Street legal. I think. Its been a while since then. But I They are full length. They bolted right in and connected to the stock y-pipe. I will look up that part # in the summit catalog and get back to you.
Joe E.
Yes, it does have an o2 sensor hole. But my stock sensor is actually in the y-pipe. So I had a firend at a weld shop take the hole in the the header and weld over it.

Message: IntenseDak, I know I am not the smartest guy on earth, but I do know that the edlebrock headers for my Pre Mag. Dak were not bought for under $100.!
Ok, I just went and got my Summit book. The edlebrock headers sell for $239.95. The part # is EDL-6851. They fit 1987-1991 Daks, 6 cylinder, all trans., 2wd and 4wd.
Thats that. I wish they were under $100. But they arent. but I still think they are worth it. But have alot of time, and some liquid wrench. A variety of sock wrenches, and patience. And gasket sealer.
Good Luck,
Joe E.

Message: My screw up, see told you I was not the smartest guy on earth! haha. For some reason I saw Grants truck as a Gen I. Well, sorry dude, I messed up.
Scott, I am still not sure about the exact name of my headers. They do bolt to the stock Y-pipe location, just as the stock manifolds did. But they also reach the chassis line. I looked up the headers and all they are listed as is Edlebrock tubular exhaust system. No specifics. Sorry...

Message: maybe the prices have change!...because over a year ago i was looking for headers for my mag and all i could find was the edelbrock (painted black) for a pre-mag at $100 and the jba's for the mag starting around $340...i thought that us magnum guys were getting are n.ts twisted...
are you referring to the paint black ones? i look it up real quick.
sorry i wasn't starting an argument...just telling the fellow what i had seen.

Message: I was hoping those were not the same headers. I was thinking I really go my nu!s twisted. Mine headers are not black. They are more a grey color. At least for now.
Anyways, before you buy these headers, what ever type they may be, you must really look at them closely. Make sure they bolt to the stock locals. on the motor and y-pipe. Also check to see that they are set up to function with your emissions system. Mine did fine. But another guys on this site, which were Mopar made! ithink, had to be customized to run with the somg system. which cost alot more $ to have done because then he could not install the headers himself. Basically what I am saying is research what ever set you go with well. It will save you alot of trouble in the end.
Joe E.
I will look around and see if I can spot any Mag headers too.

Message: hey ive been reading all the post for headers on a 93 dakota and we all know that they cost too much. i had an i deal though. we all know that the 5.2 and the 3.9 are the same, the same bore and exhaust port spacing but without the last two cylinders ,right? So, if we took one of the cheaper headers (black painted for around $70) we could cut off the rear primaries on each header, cap it off near the bottom and bolt them right up to our v6's. I dont know if this is the stupidist thing you have ever heard ,or if it sounds like a good idea ,but please email me at Garner5mat@aol.com to tell me what you think.

Message: it probably won't work right...headers are usually tuned for maximum flow and if you cut one tube off and capped it off it could mess things up. plus the one side would be off-set because the two exhaust ports on the front of the engine..that would make for a bad fitting on the y-pipe.

I'm not worried about headers that meet the stock pipes, I want a full lenght headers like I have on my 340 Challenger and modifying a V8 header might be the plan I'm looking for.
Intense, are you saying that the last 3 exaust ports on a 3.9 dont match the last 3 [all ports startin from rear of the engine] on a V8?

see what i mean about having to cut them?
are you sure full length will fit with the cross member? the only ones i know of will only fit the older fullsize truck and van (my dad has some on his van).

Message: Thanks for that informative E lesson, Intense, lol.
Your probably right, the cross member will interfear with the running of the pipes off the collectors.
So does anyone know of any headers for a 3.9 Dak that are cheaper than the national deficite!!?
I mean I bought Hooker Comp, headers for my 340 years ago, there full length THICK tubing and true 3" collectors and they were less than 300 dollars!!! all i can find for a little Dak now are technically "shorties" and there all 400 and up, what gives?

I already have a K&N and a deltaflow 40 series on my truck with other exterior assieries.
