Then you'd have an A500

Message: Actually the A500 stopped in the 94/95's, you most likely have a 42re. If the stickers still there, its a code list on the inside of the hood that will say.
42's arent much different than A500's but they are when it comes to compatibility of some parts.

Message: When you order a Rebuild Kit it's universal for the 42RE, 43Re, A500 and A518. my Hybrid adventure used everything in the Kit except 1 clutchplate and 1 pressure plate. The original had 5 sets and the rebuild kit came with 6 sets. thinkin '95 & '96 was the A518. It's stamped on top of the tranny when you pull it out of the truck. On the driver side just above the tranny pan there is an electrical connecter that plugs in from the top, If it's round w/5 wires=A518, If it's Oval w/3 wires=A500. Good Luck

Message: What about a '91 with a 5-speed? AX-15? And what tranny fluid have you guys been running in your manual trannys? My Haynes manual says 10W30, seems kinda light, it looks like it has typical heavy gear lube (75W90?) used in manual trannys in it. I bought the truck used with no owners manual a few months ago.

Message: If your gonna run 10W30 in your Manual tranny make sure it's synthetic so you get better lubrication without the thermal breakdown and sludge left behind with petrolium based Oil. If you put Penzoil in it I would change the tranny fluid every time I changed the Engine Oil.
Just my 3 Cents

Message: The AX-15 uses 75W90, The NP-2500 takes 10W30.
On 4X4 models there is a 1" spacer between the trans and tailshaft models if it is a AX-15, NP2500 has no spacer.
