Subject: Ran the 1/4 and brake question IP: Logged
Message: Went to Fontana California Speedway and ran the new 1/4 track (still needs work). Everyone with radials (who I talked to) ran .3 to .4 seconds slower than usual. Unfortunately, the water pit cannot be avoided before staging which sucks unless you got slicks. This and few other conditions might have led to the slower times. My v6 ClubCab ran a 16.8 @ 81 mph, which comes out to be about a 16.5. There were to other dakotas, a single cab R/T and a 5.2L clubcab. The R/T (mostly stock) ran a 15.7 and the clubcab (half dozen bolt-ons) ran a low 16s. My highlight was spanking a the new Edge Ranger by 1.5 seconds! He had a v6 but it was he's first time running the 1/4. I also had better times than the other three N/A v6 trucks (Tacoma and 2 S-10s) there. Although the track could have been better, I had a blast.
Brake question:
At low speeds I can hear my brakes as they spin. I had new pads and the shoes re-adjusted about two weeks ago. I've heard its normal for the break-in period but what about now? Did this slow my truck down in the 1/4 (I realize its not major contact)?

Message: What year is your truck and what do you have done to it? As for the brakes, it is a constant sound or on off on off noise?

Message: '99 with KN intake, QuickD tb, JBA headers, Flowmaster, Hurst shifter, 3.55 gears, limited-slip and some sweet cosmetic mods. The noise has been constant for the last two weeks. The sound has a dead stop, kind of like the pad loses touch with the rotor for a second and then makes contact again. I don't hear it at high speeds because of road noise.
