 Subject: Knock noise

I have a 99 dakota club cab and when i turn right or left i get a knock noise from the front tires.When i turn right it comes from the right tire and turning left it comes from the left tire.I dont really want to take it to dodge till i know if its i big problem or not because they will keep for a day or more and leave me without a ride.So if anyone knows what it might be and how to check if it is please help me out

I've heard ball joints love to go bad on Dakotas. You might do a search for that and see what comes up.
