hey all...i got a 98 3.9 2 wd sport cc with 44K mi...before about a week ago...from the day it rolled off the lot..ran perfect...no complaining from it wutsoever...but since a week ago...bad spark knock, rythmic clicking that revs with my RPMs, my cat is goin out, my front brake pads squeal terribly and my brake drums sound like an 18 wheeler minus the air brakes...ok...i put in autolite 3923's about a month ago..i use 89 oct. gas...just had my drums resurfaced and my brake pads replaced at 35K...my cat goin out is probably because of a bad O2 senser..ill get around to that after my engine stops sounding like a rattlesnake...where do i start...limited funding here...not gonna start modding it because im gonna trade it in on an RT sometime in early spring...just want it to run well again...thanx...

oh yea i forgot to mention that my left rear leaf spring squeeks on back roads at the back shackle...dont know what to do about that...

I'd check the Belly-Pan gasket, that can cause some of the symptoms you are describing. Easiest check is to pull the air-hat and shine a flashlight down the throttle body throat. If you see an oily film at the bottom of the intake, the gasket is shot.

I would test drive a 4.7L before buying the R/T.
It is a Duel overhead cam engine.Alot easier to get power out of, U can get it with a 5 speed,and its cheeper on insurance because there is no R/T bage on the door. Hope this helps.
Oh Todd is right, most likely the belly pan gasket.

An oily film is normal to see in the intake manifold due to the pcv system. The gasket is blown if you see anything more than a light film
