Subject: Losing Engine Power IP: Logged
Message: Got a '94 Dakota with around 170K miles. The truck is losing power when i press on the gas. It's like press the gas pedal and no gas is going to the engine. When i back off the gas pedal it begins to pull again. Think it's the fuel pump or filter. Any other suggestions or ideas?

Message: o2 sensor! Change it out and then try it. It should fix the problem. It will cost about $60 and about 5 min. of work.

Message: when i set my timing, i just turn the dist to 22 btc and clamp it down, but have to use 93 oct gas. i.ve been told the same about the computer setting timing mine never has. i can put it anywhere i want and it stays. 86-87 used different computer than yhe 88s on up, pull the vac hose off computer then set timimng, then it even goes past 22 degree btc. mine is set just b-4 the timing mark disapeaers under the water pump.i cut the brown wire going to feed back seliniod in the carb, that helped too..leaves you in open loop i think. gas mileage goes down . only 16 town 22 on road. .

Message: Thanks to all who suggested changing the O2 sensor. I actually bought the OEM part for about $45, but it took alittle longer than 5 minutes to change -- especially since this is the first time it was ever changed. Truck seems to be running much better. Will keep you informed.
