Subject: TIMING CHAIN/GEAR IP: Logged
Message: Does anybody know if there is a gear drive setup for the '98 3.9L V6 timing chain? I have taken a liken to the whine that is made from these setups. Or if there is a noisy timing chain set up, other than the rattle that mine already make!
I figured I have to replace it any way why not ask about other setups.

Message: I saw a gear drive with a single idler for the 5.2 a few months ago, but I can't remember who made it. Bernd knows, but he's out of town... maybe someone else knows.
Anyway, if you find one for the 5.2, it'll work on the 3.9. Same engine, but with two extra cylinders. :0)
Let us know what you find!
'00 RC Sport Forest Green, 3.9L, 5-speed 3.55, Hurst Comp-Plus Shifter, Clear-Corners, Speed-Glo gauges, Airaid Intake with relocated IAT, Autolite 3923s, Ported Throttle Body, Borg & Warner Cap/Rotor, Accel Coil, JBA 9mm Wires, JET Stage II, 185 T-stat, Flowmaster 50 w/dual out

Message: everything i have seen has been for pre-mag V8s. Just call some performance people up and find out. (i.e. summitracing, jegs, speedtweaks)
but do you really want to sound like you have a supercharger on your truck but not perform like it?

Message: Well Intense,

Message: Yah, but I have been taking my time with it since I need to replace the timing chain. I am taking the slowly but surely approach to make sure it gets done right the first time.
I also still lack the 5lb bottle. I’m debating whether or not to play with a 2lb bottle for now and later swap it out.
I also just noticed that my front end appears to be dropping! It looks like it has dropped about an inch in the last 4 months, so thats the next thing I'll be checking into. My springs, and ball joints. I just replaced the shocks about 6months ago.
