Subject: EGR Valve IP: Logged
Message: It's been suggested that I clean my EGR valve or replace the valve entirely. Where is the valve located on a 1999 Dakota, 3.9.
I'm getting a code P0306 reading by the way.
Thanks.

Message: I don't think a '99 has an EGR valve. I know my '00 does not. Have you tried giving it a complete tuneup? That code indicates a misfire on cylinder #6. Could be anything from a bad injector, plug, plug wire, leaking intake gasket, etc...

Message: Thanks, daddio; I'd read that there was no EGR valve too. Thought they were a manditory item. Autozone even lists a gasket for one.
I'm getting the parts for a tune-up. Hoping it's sometning as simple as a plug, wire, or injector. Has 146000 miles on the truck. I purchsed it from a cousin.

Message: Hope the tuneup does the trick. I've had my '00 for 11 years
and it has 180K on it and believe it or not I have never had a
code pop up on it. Treat them right and they'll last quite a long
time.
