Subject: Oil pressure problem IP: Logged
Message: I have a '97 dakota, 3.9 V6. I recently starting having oil pressure problems. The oil pressure gauge goes to zero and then back up to normal intermittently. It doesn't do it on a "regular" basis, but will usually go down to zero while driving at speed and back up when at idle or low speed. I'm not a mechanic but that seems backwards. It also as developed a knocking sound. (don't know if they're related) Any help out there? By the way, I'm stationed overseas so a dodge dealership isn't exactly "close by".

Message: if u did a recent oil change and before the oil change u didnt have any problems then i would pull the dip stick and make sure that the oil lvl is not overfull. to much oil can cause foaming of the oil and possible engine damage.beyond that i cant help u without more info.
