Message: I don't know much about 3.9s but my 4.3 with k&n air intake and flowmaster exhaust made it so my brother in law in his 99 5.2 dodge dakota couldn't pass me at a rolling start at 20 mph to 80 mph, we just kept going the same speed as each other. wouldn't a 3.9 which is a 318 minus two cylinders go slower. maybe Im wrong

Message: Your wrong I bet anything it was a 3.9 cause if it was 5.2 and in good condition you would have gotten waxed. I have a 94 3.9 hers my site you can see the few mods I have and I pull dead even with my friends 98 s10 with flomaster exhaust and airade intake.

Message: Got tired of reading all the posts. I don't know if anyone posted this yet but the Factory specs on the 3.9 magnum engine is
175 bhp at 4,800 rpms
225 lb-ft at 3,200 rpms
Now thats just factory specs, but according to Mopar Performance, they've had some factory 3.9 mag's run 180bhp and 230 lb-ft at the same r's.
So i guess it's the luck of the draw there.
The pre mag 3.9's (1986-1991) made
125 bhp at 4,800 rpm
195 lb-ft at 3,200 rpm
so theres some info.

Message: Bow tie boy i am not saying your lying but that 5.2 must be dogged out or your not telling us what you have done to your truck because if your truck is anything stock you will not win from a dig or a roll.....unless like i said the 5.2 has problems.

Message: Turns out his 99 dakota has problems Im not sure If they were there while we were racing but his automatic tranny is going out. I kinda feel sorry for him his second gear won't engage if he 's rodding on it and his overdrive will no longer engage. If any one has any advice for him it would be appriciated he just got a new exhaust system and hasn't got to see any difference in power.
ps jimmy has 5 spd, and edelbrock intake 2in holley throttle body will be bolted on soon

Message: Hey I got a '93 S-15 GMC Jimmy... 4x4, cat back flowmaster, K&N, MSD ignition, 8.5 mm wires, autolite double platinum plugs, and a B&M 3 way electronic control shift kit, tranny cooler and stock gears. My buddy's '00 2x4 Dak 3.9 with Airade intake, mild power chip and cutout exhaust will pretty much smoke me off the line, and will pass me at freeway speeds. His truck also has 3 more inches of lift than mine does. Go figure
