 Subject: dakota problems with 4x4 staying in 4hi

yea my buddie has i think i 99 2000, dakota sxt, he put it in 4hi yesterday when we had snow, and when he went to put it back into 2wheel the little light on the 2wheel switch blinked a few times then went back to the 4hi light on, the 4hi light stays on steady even if you leave the switch on 2wheel, but its still in wheel, anybody have any ideas how to get it outta 4wheel

usualy they pop out off 4 low
soak and I mean soak the shifter and linkage with
real oil not wd 40
They are well known for hanging up when they are
dry very common but easily fixed prob up here in
all the salt and slushy roads very common

thanks, but it was some wiring that got loose, a ladie had pulled out in front of him bout a month ago, and he just got it back from the bodyshop, and they had the whole front end apart, and from them dumbass's not checking everything when they put it back together, the wiring came undone, and it was just stuck in 4by
