Subject: Engine core pricing IP: Logged
Message: Ok guys and gals.
Im getting ready to start my fall/winter project. My wife has (will) agree to let me build a engine for my 92 3.9.
I plan to buy a engine (long block) and totally go through it and put it in the P/U next spring.
I have found a long block that I can rebuild but think the yard wants too much for it.
I would like everyones opinion on what a re-buildable 3.9 for a 92 should cost.
Thanks

Message: Trev1, I was looking at buying a used engine for mine before I rebuilt it and found one in Rogers, Ar. for $700, it was complete W/exchange
The yard said it was a good eng. I'm not sure what a core would be, but you may find an individual who would let it go a little cheaper,
especially around Joplin.
Just some thoughts.
Good Luck

Message: Ok lets try again. Im looking for an engine for a 92 or uo 3.9 v6. I want to buy it outright and the motor will probally out of the veh. All I want on the engine is just the same as a "long block"
hope this helps...

Message: Trev1, just for the core I would think about $150 or less would be a fair core charge. If you get one from a junk yard be sure they will exchange the heads in case one is cracked.
Good Luck

Message: I found one for $350 at the bone yard in Joplin Mo. It is a long block and came out of a 92 dak with 95,000 on it.
This is buying it out-right no exchange.
This will put the price around $1000 for a total rebuild if I out it all together, but the machine work will have to be done by a shop.
Believe I will run an add in the local Big Nickel paper soon and see if I get any better offers.
Got to save every dollar I can.
Thanks everyone...
WD Im in no hurry but the mtr is burning a quart every 600 or so. Compression is down to 105 or so.
Can't remember exzactly.
But it is about time.
