Subject: transfer case problem IP: Logged
Message: My transfer case is having an issue! truck does beautifully in 4lo and N, in 2hi and 4hi the truck sometimes catches and works fine for about ten minutes or less. i just bought the truck and drove it 50 miles home the 2hi worked good until almost home. tried adjusting linkage and that helped some and now it is back to acting up. it is an 87 with 3.9l 4x4. when it acts up it grinds?, and you cant move the truck. its like it is partially in gear an in neutral. if you have any suggestions please email me at roadrunnersb86@yahoo.com Thank You

Message: Most of the time that is caused by a dry shifter
soak it down with motor oil to free it up what
happens is they will not fully enguage and pop
out and grind
soak it good
my 95 4x4 did that twice poping out of 4 low
got so bad could not even get into low soaked
it with oil and it worked fine
stiff lever will do it every time
pull the boot and soak it LOL
with motor oil not wd40 or other sprays reg
motor oil
