I am looking to put a exaust system on my Dak when I get it, was wondering what the best one is? I would prefer Split Side Exit, but can't find aftermarket one like that, just found split rear. I really like the sound of Flowmasters, but they're kind of expensive. So what what be a good sounding, Cheap, Good looking system? Also, does it effect fuel mileage? They always say you get better MPG when you put a exaust system on. The Combo I'm getting is the sport plus w/ 4.7L and 5 spd man. with 3.92 gears. sorry for long post

First off, congrats on your choice of truck. I had a 4.7/3.92/5 speed myself and I really enjoyed driving it.

Gibson has a split side exit and we sell an awful lot of their systems. Nice sound at idle and the come on pretty good when you get on it. As for mpg, it depends. Your mileage may go up a little but my experience has been that when your truck sounds better, you tend to drive more aggressively - and your gas mileage suffers, lol.

I have a 94 standard cab, short bed, 318, automatic! I want side exit also! Is there a kit made for this truck. I'm going to go internal for my next couple of mods so I have to open up the exhaust immediately. I'm getting headers and having custom y-pipes bent because I can't find any for this application. Any advise would be appreciated.

Pacesetter is the only dual side exit catback I've seen for a Gen II. Maybe not the greatest quality. Headers are easy for a '94, auto, 318. We sell the Mopar/Thorley headers for that application. Very nice, nickel-chrome, 2 1/2" collectors so you can run duals but also includes a y-pipe too.

How much is the header/y-pipe combo?

I was planning the cost effective route! Headers from Summit for $181 and a buddy at a local muffler shop to bend the Y. A 2 1/4 Mandrel bent y-pipe would be nice but I think I'm going to go with 2 1/2 crush bent to save some cash. I'm about tapped out after dumping $3000 into my drivetrain. I'm thinking the Scavenger 2 into 1's offered by Flowmaster will be the only manufactured part in my system. All in all...

Headers, 2 1/2" crush bent Y, through a dual 2 1/2 to single 3 1/2 Scavenger then through a 3 1/2" turbo style muffler should provide ample back pressure and really open up once the exhaust gets flowing. In front of the rear tire would be nice but I think the added back pressure of the tailpipe may help the torque a hair.

OK guys... Now it's time to shoot holes in my plans... GO FOR IT! ;)
