Should I at least gain mabye 10-15 HP with a K&N drop in and a 40 series flowmaster with a single in and dual 2.5" outlets on my 4.7?

Close. Flowmaster 50 or 70 series produce less floorboard noise, without performance decrease. Remove the rubber flap and air box inlet snorkel, and install a Fernco 4" inlet, from Home Depot or Lowes, for more gains. '01 4.7 RC 5-spd/3:92; K&N drop-in w/custom alloy homebrew-TB to airbox, Flow 70 w/ 2 1/2" duals.

I doubt it - you might not even see a gain, some have even claimed a loss. If you dyno it you'll know for sure.

the k&n fipk and the gsmotorsports are the only intake and exhaust i have seen actual positive dyno numbers for, about 7 and 14rwhp respectively. So, spend a little more and get a guarenteed 21rwhp.

I'm with the dawg and the 'ski on this one.

Dan, you first post, may help other mods, and will sound different, but actual #'s on a dyno?

I did both these 'bolt-ons' first and, although the extra rumble made me feel faster, I didn't see any difference in my 1/4 mile times. I swapped the cams just after the season ended last fall. I already KNOW that made a difference. Now I'm just waiting for the 04 season to open so I can get the actual numbers. My best run last season was 15.4 on the factory radials (which didn't finally grip in until halfway through 3rd!). I'll start the season on the same slippery tires just for comparison purposes, but a set of cheap steel wheels and 9" slicks will solve the wheel spin problem as soon as my budget allows. (The $500 cams kinda knocked the budget for a loop!)

03 CC 4.7 krc206cams K&Ncoldairkit Flowmaster1in-2out 5spman 9"3.9LSD

p.s. At 300ftlbs rear wheel tork from the 206 cams, anybody know how long my tranny is likely to hold up? The NV3500 is only rated for 300ftlbs max! It's the same tranny Chevy puts behind it's V6's! Light, but strong?

No hole shots with the slicks or you will be picking up with pieces of what used to be your transmission.

The poor tractions with the OEM tires will keep other things from breaking.

I myself saw a gain of 7RWHP from a home depot cold-air intake I made. The difference was seen as low as 2700rpm.

I also dyno'd a flowmaster muffler replacement over stock. You could have laid the lines on top of one another.

TNJONES...Don't worry about your torque. There are many of us out here with over 350ft/lbs that have been operating smoothly for a while now... I'd just be thinking about the clutch. Mine held up to boost for about 24,000miles, and then the Centerforce had to go in. Alex is N/A and running the 212cams, intake, TB, CAI, slicks, and some other goodies, and he's still running on his stock 60+000mile stock tranny and clutch.

TnJones, you will be damn happy with those cams...I know I was ;P

PCM flash brought the whole deal together. Was like driving an entirely different truck (literally, not even remotely the same, other than from suspension squeaks that have always been there :P )

Yeah, I figure a clutch is in my not too distant future. I'm hoping when the time comes it won't be too hard to find a heavier one or get stronger springs in the stock one. I'll keep centerforce in mind.
I definately love the cams, but where can I get anything done to the PCM on my 03? I've even checked custom houses where they will suposedly redo the fuel curves to match your cams, but they won't touch my 03. I suspect it's too rich at idle and leaning out at speed, but what can I do?
