Today I became the new owner of a 99 RC Dakota R/T and with it comes many questions. When I first became interested in the R/T, I drove a bone stock one and it was quite impressive. The one I purchased had a few mods that I can see: K&N FIPK and a cat back exhaust. I have no idea if anything else is done to it (cam, pcm, etc,) but this truck would devestate the bone stock R/T I drove. Is it common for two mods such as these to truely wake up an R/T? I'd love to know the rwhp and trq this truck is making.

My second question has to deal with mods that I can not see. Can anyone give me advice to help me find out if it has any other mods I can't see? Perhaps I am in the wrong but this truck feels so strong. It doesn't fall on its face on the top end as people say they do. It jumps from 80mph to over 100mph with no trouble and in no time at all and pulls hard.

Since my initial questions are done, let me share my first few opinions of this truck. This truck looks wonderful and the compliments given are numerous. What surprised me is the performance that this truck has with a few minor mods. Full throttle at anything less than 40mph results in fishtailing and long black stripes on the road. 350+ lbs of trq can make anyone smile. For the price of the truck, it can't be beat. Buying a Lightning did cross my mind since I think they are great performing vehicles but price and the fact that they are OHC engines pushed me away. Never again will I venture towards an engine that is OHC. All in all, I am pleased with my purchase and can't wait until I can take it to the track and have some good fun. While it may not be the fastest or quickest, it sure isn't the slowest and the fun factor is an A+.
