Message: The 3923's are a colder plug. The only down side I can think of would be that they would be more prone to foul than a hotter plug. I have the 3923's in right now and have not had any problem. You don't need the 180 Tstat.

Message: I also have a 2001 Quad Cab, 2WD, 4.7, Auto.
I would like to install the 3923's also. Should I get "copper tip" or "Platinum".
I have headers, cat back, and a Volant intake.
Thanks

Message: with 3923's in a 360 a 180 or lower stat helps. any time you switch to a colder range plug you need to try to keep the motor that much cooler to avoid detonation. stay away from 'platinum' or 'splitfire' type plugs...they are trash and you waste your money. autolites or champs work just fine.

Message: I heard from a recently retired mechanic that the split fire plugs actually do help for extreme performance situations. I ride motorcycles, and I was asking him about them. He told me that they don't do much, but they do even out the temperatures on both sides of the cylinder. He explained how he was at a show and they showed him that the temperature differences 180 off on the cylinder was a difference of 60 degrees with a single prong plug. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I trust him, just food for thought. Aaron

Message: Well the best thing to do is use very very thing washers to match the position of the archso it is vertical, preferably all being oriented facing the same direction. Yeah its not easy, but performance wise and heat dispersion wise it is optimal. Not worth it in my opinion, but you should do it so you can report back to me your results. Declo splitfires are a great performance plug and would go great with this adjustment.
