Subject: Aluminum or Cast Iron Heads? IP: Logged
Message: I am looking at buying the KRC heads in the near future for my 2001 R/T. I was trying to decide between the Aluminum Magnum R/T ported Heads ($999 each) or the Magnum R/T cast iron ported heads with the 2.02 intake with bronze guides and 5 angle valves ($1019 each). If money is not a factor, and I intend to make the 5.9 put out as much power as possible, will the weight loss of the aluminum heads offset the additional power gained by the 2.02 intake on the cast iron heads instead of 1.92 (aluminum)?

Message: What is the valve sizes on the aluminum heads? Aluminum is better for h.p. gains generally speaking because of its ability to transfer heat faster. My guess is the aluminum heads are the faster ones. That is what is on my '98 Trans Am.
