Subject: Optimizer flash for manual?
IP: Logged

Message:
Has anyone done the Optimizer II ECM upgrade for a 4.7 with manual tranny? Seems most of the benefits are tied to auto trannies - would the 5-spd manual configuration benefit from the upgrade enough to make it worthwhile (cost)? TIA for any info....

I had it done last summer and didn't notice much of a difference. I think that it works better for the Auto trannies due to the shift points. I think that the HO cams are a way better investment, 5spd or not.

Thanks for the reply - kinda confirms what I was thinking. I already have the HO cams, intake, Fastman TB, CAI, 3"catback, and the other external 4.7 tricks, and didn't want to spend that kind of money for minimal gains. Maybe I'll just put the cash back towards a set of 206 cams....

A guy named 'lynn', has a bad dude 4.7 5spd, and said it WAS worth it. He said it advanced the timing, raised the speed limiter, etc. I don't have one, one of my next mods perhaps.
