Message: Pros: Provides some traction, gets you out of a jam
Cons: Clutches wear out and need replacement, different feel on dry pavement, not a heavy duty part, no for wheeling

Message: 112,000 miles when parked, and it still hooked and pulled just like new. This is the 8 1/4 with 3.90's as shipped in the Shelby Dakota. Mine was driven as hard as it'd go all the time.

Message: I just swaped my powertrax locker for the suregrip, I love it, the powertrax was noisy and when I popped the cover the springs when in the bottom of the housing what a piece of crap, have had the suregrip in for about 3 weeks and seems to do as good or better than the locker, I recommend it, buy the way it's made by auburn gear and ran me about $440.00 though my dealership, that's employee price

Message: Thanks for the input guys. I found a website selling it for $350, but of course labor will probably be at least another $50-100 (low estimate).

Message: Auburn does not make the OEM unit - Dana does. You can pick up the OEM unit for $160 at www.4wheelparts.com. (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
I believe the Auburn to be a better unit though - also more expensive.

Message: Go with Zen's advice, the dealer will be selling you a Dana unit at 3 times the cost anyway. Dana has been making the limited slip/sure grip's for Chrysler since before our time.
Have an original sure grip in a 340 Challenger, still hooks like a mother. Have another in my Dak that was bought from a junk yard and she hooks too, your moneys safe with a Dana Trak Lok if you ask me.
One bit of advice.....make sure to put the additive from Mopar in with new gear oil soon as its buttoned back up. Those clutches will outlast you if its used
