Message: I have a 97 dakota 4x4 with the V-8. Has approx 110,000 miles on it. It almost always starts hard and always has. The starter cranks for about 15 seconds before it finally fires off. I was just wondering if anybody might no what causes this.

Message: Shut it off and restart it right away. If it fires right up you could be losing fuel pressure, either through a bad injector or bad check valve. If not, check the usual tune up stuff.

Message: Thnaks for the reply I did some more checking and it sounds like the check valve on the fuel pump is bad. I was hoping I could get the fuel filter regulator that has the check valve in it without buying the whole fuel pump. Dodge dealer says it is one part#. If anybody knows where I could get just the fuel pressure regulator please let me know. thanks
