Subject: MP convertor fatality IP: Logged
Message: Well, after i blew my stock convertor, i sent my truck in to have a transgo and M/P convertor installed. Turned out the tranny was showing extreme wear, so i had it rebuilt and built up.
Last night i went to the shop to check it out and it was run for the first time. It shifted up to 4th, twice on the hoist so, off the the street to test...
1,2,3,4...Noprob
1, 2, no drive,
Back in the shop, brand new 2400 stall convertor bit the dust, took the new tranny with it. Problem is that Mopar offers no warrenty, so if they don't honour a warrenty than the 2nd tranny is on me. Tranny came out worst than it went in.this tranny job could end up costing me near $4000!!!! Kinda getting tired of mopar parts! I had an R/T cam crack on me a year ago.

Message: Decided against the 904 janesy? I'd thought that's what you were swapping in.

Message: Don't count out the shop. How well do you know their work? And when you say it bit the dust what do you mean? Did it explode and if so what let go?

Message: Nope i couldn't afford the 904 setup, gen1dak, i posted that before.
Your right i am not counting out the shop either, The convertor lost any stall, and the pan was full of metal. So, It is being torn apart friday or Monday to find out what let go.

Message: It's all done now, but i haven't picked it up.
I took the convertor to another shop where they cut it open, and it had literally shedded into pieces inside. The tranny itself was not blown, but had to be rebuilt because it was full of shavings form the convertor.
They don't have to pay , because the part that broke , i provided myself. Which consequentially, had no warrenty. they did eat a very large portion of the cost, more than half. So i'm staisfied. Besides you would be very hard pressed to find any performance company that offers/honours a warrenty, and this was not a regular rebuild.
