Message: me and a buddy of mine did a 60mph punch and we were dead even up to 95mph. My R/T is a reg cab and my buddys silverado is a 03 extended cab 4.8 automatic. I was disappointed with my truck. My R/T has a cat back and k&n drop in and my buddys truck is bone stock. I am losin faith in the magnums.

Message: the cat back isn't going to do much of anything for you..neither is the kn drop in.
the stock r/t has weak top end torque.

Message: I've done a few light mods and I noticed noticeable gains with the K&N FIPK and Superchips Tuner. Traction is a bigger problem for me after those mods.
Not much to notice from the autolites 3923's nor IAT relocate.
I too have read that the drop in K&N does not do too much.

Message: I just got a newer company vehicle that has a 4.8 in it. It runs a lot better than the older 5.0 did. But I still think my heavy QC 4X4 with the 4.7 could hang. The 4.7 is probably better at higher speeds than the 5.9 is too so maybe you should try running him off the line. The 4.8 dogs until 4000 RPM's then seems to be a rocket to 5500 RPM's. My 4.7 is pretty flat from off idle to max rev unlike the 4.8 which is peaky at one point in the RPM band.

Message: Get a B&G computer flash, M1 2bbl intake & 52mm TB and you will smoke him at any speed. These three things will drop you nearly a full second in the 1/4 mile.

Message: That's what you get for thinking the R/T's flashy package and greater cubes would equal speed. Shoulda bought the 4.7 and left that Silverado staring wide eyed at your tailgate.

Message: I got out of Dodge last month! I suggest you do the same. I was disapointed myself and am very happy now, mods are cheaper for both ford and chevy AND THEY WORK! Do it now while rebates are great and you can get end of year sales. My R/T had great quallity but the performance was a great big dissapointment after 2k dollars, plus the look was getting dated and the new one is a$$ ugly!

Message: The R/T is not for the weak minded. If you want A "Hot Rod" you have to build it. A few good mods on a R/T far out weigh many other setups with the same mods. The 4.7/5.9 horsechit been going on for a while and the same chit still being said. I have worked and studied both engines in identical trucks and have found that both engines have strong points and weak points. The only thing I can say is that MOPAR is not the easiest to mod after a point on either engine. But both are damn good starts.
"Haven't you people figured that out yet?" Ya buddy, I figured it out! You don't have R/T on your door.
