Message: I have a 1998 4cyl. and want to put a tachometer on. It didn't come with one (i don't think any 4 cyl. Daks do) and would like to know if it would be hard to hook one up and if i need a special one? Sorry if it seemd like a dumb question, i am 15 and don't know much about trucks.

Message: It's a pretty easy install. Just pick the style you like, and the mounting system you like, and order it. When it comes you'll find the instructions are pretty clear. To make the tach work, there are only 3 wires: power, ground, and coil sensor. There are usually two more wires for the light. There's usually a series of switches on the back of the unit to set it for 4, 6, 8 cyl engines. They usually come from the factory set for an 8 cyl.

Message: You can also run the accessory power cord from you dimmer switch to have control over night lighting. I had the same problem. But isn't it nice to have a ginormus gas gauge!
