Message: I hung out at import meets every friday for a while (buncha friends that were in the import thing, and I kinda was too because of it) and there's a fellow here named Curtis (Cummins man might know him, since I'm in houston) that has a black F250 diesel, who from what I got out of him ran a 14.1 hitting the 92mph speed limiter at the 1000' mark and driving a steady 92mph to the end of the track. Personally seen him lay it down to a WRX from a stop pretty badly... PHEAR THE DIESELS :)

Damn. I'm not that old at only 33. But looking about 10 years back I think if you said that I would have laughed my a$$ off!
But now HOLY SHEEP SH*T some of these trucks are FAST! And they're not only pushing 4400 Lbs like we are!

Message: Midnight, I never stated that P Strokes are not fast. It only takes 400 HP to run a 14 sec 1/4 mile. Powerstroke racer (David Lott) is in the mid 12's just on #2. Right now they are about 200 to 300 hp behind the Cummins. Also I am not in the Texas area, I'm on the east coast. I just love diesel motorsports.
By the way, MADDOG has set the record this weekend, He ran an 11.2? and an 11.3? to back it up.

Message: I know that cummins man I was just making a point. As for your hp statment I think you need to look up Eric the owner of ATS turbos. He has the fastest diesel (street leagal) that I have ever seen. He is running a steady 8.89 in a 01 ps
and yes he goes through alot of motors. But hell he has money and lots of it. LOL I know for a fact that is has 51 psi of boost on a stock bototm end. But that is just to much deflection in a ps flywheel and it breaks cranks. There is nothing stouter then a cummins bottom end. There other reason as I am sure you know the 12v cummins are so fast is there is no extra crap on then and you can turn them up to GEE WIZZ HEHE where the 16 and up you can do as much with as eaisly. If you look at the fastest off shore boats in the world run ps diesels as i am sure you know there is NO subsatustion for cubes. Dont get me wrong i am a ps guy but I do like the cummins a lots better for cost and ease of repair and longevity of life. peace out James

Message: 8.89 must be 1/8th mile. MADDOG holds the record for street class 1/4 mile. Lets see this PS truck in action at some DHRA events. Also If the fastest boats are powered by PS then why has this great technology not made it into drag racing and truck pulling? Also why are people pulling out the PS and installing the mighty Cummins? I will give you one simple answer, and displacement has nothing to do with it. Ability to supply #2.

Message: dude look at what i said "street leagal not street class" this is a truck that is is all glass but the cab the olny bed on it is glass sides all the frame behind the cab has been cut off and it tubed but is still has all the required lighting horn, ect to make it street leagal in UT the inside of the cab is gutted all but the needed goodies. The boat thing well when you have water on a drag strip let me klnow tell then you cant run chillers to keep the trubo temps down enough to do what they do in the off shoreboats. it is call old technology from blower boats made to fit diesel. I plan on buying a cummins after the first of the year. I was not meaning to upset anyone. But since I have dodge is coming out with a new cummins late Jan 04 the adds will be hitting tv right about jan1 it is what i am waiting for. if you think I am wrong just remember this in Jan. It will be the highest hp diesel to hit the market in a stock truck todate.

Message: amerrycan,
Yah, I heard confirmation on the new Cummins 600 for the 2004.5 model year a week ago or so. I am kind of bummed because I just got my '04 HO 2500 2 month ago but I needed the tax writeoff this year so it wouldn't have changed my purchasing decision. Still waiting to hear if they upgraded the 48rE tranny to handle the extra torque or ditched it all together which I seriously doubt.

Message: FYI... The newer P.S. is roughly the same diplacement as a Cummins. 6.0 Liters compared to 5.9 Liters. The old PS was like 7.3 Liters. They gained a LOT of power and even downsized at the same time. Basically the difference is the PS has 8 smaller pistons compared to the Cummins 6 Large stokers. Plus when I drove a 7.3 P.S., it revved to at least 3700 RPM's. Kinda cool to get SOME RPM's from a stock diesel. The Cummins slow turner may be why it lasts so damn long.

Message: Graphite,
The new 6.0 psd appears to be problematic as they are having to do alot of buybacks I have heard. I was kind of surprised myself of a low redline just over 3000 grand on my CTD, but it is the first diesel I have ever owned. I have read that there are far fewer moving parts with the inline 6 design which is another reason for its longevity.
Checked out your site. Pretty interesting. I clicked on your home A/C mod. Does changing the blower in your air handler alone give you a 16 seer rating? I thought you need a bigger condenser unit and perhaps a different compressor for your heat pump. or not?

Message: Amerrycan,
That's cool. I misread what you stated before, also I'll stay away from the boat stuff. I've heard of snow mobiles running in the 11's in the quarter, then they hook up to chillers to cool down.
Dak 3.9
If you choose to buy a box for your truck now, the service dept may be able to track it. I would keep it bone stock until you get some miles on it. Also there are not any high HP boxes yet for the cummins. But when they come out they should be stackable with the current boxes.

Message: Just caught a typo in my post above . No, my CTD does not redline at 3 million RPM. Hehehehe. Ya, I was thinking of waiting about a year or so anyway to make sure most all the servicing bugs are worked out of the CTD before I added a fuel box. Thanks.
