 Subject: Best Racing Dakota??

OK, I am new here and hope to soon be a Dakota owner. I know there is alot of debate about what truck to pick(3.9,4.7,5.9) and I'm not trying to start any arguements. I am buying a new dakota in a few weeks and was wondering which one is the best for racing. I would probably be picking between the 4.7 and the 5.9. I hear that the 5.9 only comes in auto. and i would probably prefer 5 speed. So between these which should I get? Consider aftermarket products and the fact that the 5.9 is auto. Also, does the club cab (not quad) have much effect on times??

If all you're after is racing the truck, get the 5.9L. Not only because it's the biggest engine available but also because there's a plethora of aftermarket parts available for them...and not just intake, throttle bodies, and exhaust, but cams, heads, pistons, rods, studs, M1-MPI Manifold, cranks, etc.
The 4.7L is rather limited on aftermarket heads, cams, and the rest of the internals. (And external "Bolt-Ons" will only work so far...you will hit a limit on the externals eventually.)

Almost forgot...the automatic, for consistency in racing would be a better choice. The manuals don't hold up to alot of HP. (500+HP that is)
I know of two Club Cab R/T's that are in the high 11's and low 12's in the 1/4 mile...one with Nitrous and the other with a Supercharger.

Hey,
I don't know much about the 5.9 but you can't
get the 5.9L in nothing but the R/T or the
Quad Cab.. Not in a 4x4 Club Cab..
But the 4.7 has real potential!!!!!!!!!!
And like Berd said 5spd 500+hp
