Subject: Need detailded "how to"on valve cover IP: Logged
Message: I just ordered a set of 1.7's from KRC and need a detailed "how to" on modifying the valve cover baffels. Pictures would be great and measurements as to how far to bend the baffels for proper clearance.

Message: haven't done mine yet but from what i understand you should just knock them down a bit but be careful not to flatten them closed. sorry i couldn't be more helpful. If you want you can get some v/c's already prepped from Sam @ socaldakota.com. Real good guy to deal with.
btw, what brand & how much?

Message: Thanks for the reply. I'm in hope that there is someone with more detail on this mod. (No offense intended here at all) I figure the more detail the better the job will go.
I can't see spending $$ on something like this as it looks like it should be pretty simple.

Message: Lay a stright edge accross the lip of the valve cover mesure the distance from the stright edge to the baffle, now take a peice of 2x4 and pound the baffle in a 1/4" being carful not to close off the ends (pcv ventalation)
Go to Autozone and pick up a new set of fel-pro valvecover gaskets (rubber) and ADD them to the stock one's (if you didn't tear them up) that's right you will have "2" sets of gaskets under the covers.
This works great and no problems with leaks

Message: Great! Just curious is the fel-pro trick done to avoid baffle distortion or can you get away with more bending? If more bending is possible do you need 3/8" or 1/2" total to get proper clearance?

Message: by the time you do more bending the baffles will be closed off, then you will need to find a way to add extra holes to vent the pcv (not a good idea drilling on the baffles)

Message: I have more of those covers available too if you want some---
Trying to have them (2 sets of V6, 2-3 set of V8) pre made, ready for coating--
Yeah, best I'll do on the Crowers for the V6 are $360.05 shipped--- if people go with the valve covers, I'll drop $10 off the valve covers, but Crower raised their prices 4% on certain items (V6 rockers being one of them)-- and I had to move with it (I only raised my prices 3%).
