Message: Anybody out there using Jacobs Ingition? What's your experience with it and the company. They get alot of people pissed at them. Is their stuff any good?
Bernd, I see speedtweaks sells the Accel 300+. Do you feel that this is the best Ignition upgrade for us all? I heard you praise MSD, but comment that they don't cut any deals to small distributors.

Message: I've had rotten experiences with Jacobs (the company). They lie, cheat and steal to get the sale, then leave you high and dry. Two examples: 1) When I expressed concern over the crappy warranty on the Energy Pak, the salesman promised a free 3 year warranty upgrade. Not seeing any reference to that on my invoice I called to confirm - about 20 times. Finally, I was told - by a "manager", who would not give his name - that the salesman did not have the authority to give away the warranty, but I could purchase it for $199. Thankfully, although I ordered directly from Jacobs, JC Whitney was the "dealer" and I was able to return the damn thing to them. 2) Years earlier, I had purchased an Omni Pak and wireset from them. They sent the wrong wires for my Chevy V8, but not to worry, under their lifetime warranty I could get them replaced - but you can only send in 4 at a time. But wait! These are brand new. Didn't matter. In both cases, no apologies, no replies to letters I sent. Bottom line? They suck. Get an MSD 6A. GREAT COMPANY. GREAT CUSTOMER SUPPORT. GREAT PRODUCT.

Message: Thanks Tony! I've heard this line before. Over time, I forget and begin to consider them again. It's just that occasionally I here someone say something positive; Maybe they're paid by Jacobs!

Message: I used the Jacobs energy team on my 85 Ramcharger with a 360 and 4 bbl. It really did everything they claimed. Gas mileage on that bemouth 4x4 went up to 13 to 17 highway, it started faster, idled smooth, and lost all of it's previous hesitation off the line. It would even spin a 32/11.50/15 off the line with the automatic. It also had headers, exhaust, and air filter. I don't know how much the Jacobs helps a fully computer controlled motor but it was the best $300 I could have spent on that Ramcharger.

Message: The Jacobs system isn't all that bad...but their warranty and service sucks. Don't bother.
Yup, I do sell the Accel 300+ ignition system but did not post the MSD as they don't work with the smaller companies. The MSD is a tried and true ignition system that's been around for many, many years. Summit Racing has the best prices on the MSD equipment.

Message: I did the research and bought a Crane Hi-6S and LX-91 coil for my R/T. Big mistake. The truck ran OK, but the idle was terrible, and it had an annoying miss just off idle. Eric at truckperfomance.com told me the MSD was the best. They sold Jacobs for a while, but had so many come back they went back to MSD. I just sent my Crane back to Summit. They said no problem with the return, and will send out an MSD 6T (no rev limiter needed on Dodge, computer does it). MSD rep told me that the Dodge coil was great. No need to buy a new one, the OE will work fine with the 6T. Better get a premium cap and rotor from Napa with the brass tips. Also, check out Moparchat.com. Another great source of information.

Message: Jacobs BITES!
I haven't had the displeasure of dealing with returns or warranties, but the pakage did NOTHING for the performance or MPG of my last truck (4.3 V6). $400.00 indeed.
I think that their claims are outrageous, and I will never again be taken in by a "guaranty of HP gains" -- flat wasn't there. Grrr.....

Message: I have an Omni Torquer and it works great. Have had no problems, and I bought it used off eBay almost a year and a half ago. When I have called in to them with questions, they've responded well. I know they recently got bought out by a bigger company who probably might change the direction the company was originally headed, but I dont know. I know their systems work great and, wires are good, and everything else they claim works fine.
I have noticed that some people who have not had good performance experiences with their products neglected to increase the plug gap to .55" rather than leaving it at a stock gap. One MUST do this in order to see the gains from their systems.
Other than that, I wont recommend anything else. Of course, I have never tried anything else so I cannot pretend to be an authority on any other competitor's products, however.

Message: I have used both the Omni Magnum and Omni Pack in S/C applications- both units could not maintain proper combustion. The Omni Pac actually made the car feel more responsive down low. I also ran MSD and Accel CD's both of which felt sluggish down low due to the short spark duration of CD ignitions. I currently run a Kenne Bell boost a spark (18v to the coil primary) which seems work ok.

Message: I installed the Jacobs on my "97 Dakota with
the 5.2 engine expecting to see an increase in
my MPG and maybe a little better midrange
power.
Forget it, even with the increased air gap in the
plugs, no difference in performance. Just
lightened my wallet by several hundred $$$.
