Subject: A Brand New TB Question IP: Logged
Message: Ok, here's another question for you guys who have a clue on this stuff (as opposed to me). Finally saved up my pennies and am about to install the R/T Performance "package" (CAM, Headers, Exhaust, PCM), the R/T rocker arm kit, and Randy's M1 MPI setup on my '99 5.2 4X4. Last piece is the TB. I've ordered a Super Street from Jules, but I'm looking a month delivery time (sucks). Then I keep reading Bernd's recommendations (and looked around Speedtweaks) and I'm now wondering, with all of these mods, should I be looking at the 52mm Flowmetrics instead? Help. Please. This is a huge investment for me, and I'd like to get it right.
I know this is a duplicate of my reply post under "TB" (original post by acabezas), but I started thinking that being reply #14 on a thread that seemed pretty much over wasn't my best hope of getting help.

With the package, definitely YES on the 52mm TB. However, it is a 4x4 so make sure you've got the proper gearing to get you moving as well. The package that you're looking at also raises the powerband...useable range is from 2300-5500 (Cam, Intake, TB, Headers, etc.)
On the Magnum Performance TB, waaaaaay too expensive for the performance gains. I purchased a "R/T Special" V6 TB for $1000 about two years ago...it sits on my shelf...I got more gains out of a $400 Flometrics TB.

Message: Thanks Bernd.
I drive State Highways to and from work, and all I really want is to be able to get in front of the all too frequent #%$*#^ in his V6 S10, Ferd F-150, whatever who decides to floor it just as I'm passing him (why do they ALWAYS go 40 until you want to get around them?). Best I can do now is hold even with him - and that doesn't work so hot with a semi headin' for ya. Maybe I shouldn't have ordered my Dak in Solar Yellow...
I don't want to bolt on an SC and not interested in NOX (that's for you hard core guys).
This all started when I read an article about the GMC C3 with the Lingenfelter "6.0 SC" package. 475hp, 0-60 in 4.7 sec. Drool. Then I thought about the making payments on a $53,000 none-too-pretty truck, glanced over at my great looking Dak and decided to give it a shot of steroids. I know it won't have anywhere near that kinda performance, but it's also $50,000 less.

Kris,
This was on several recommendations from a few people. Also, two years ago...there weren't that many V6 TB's available. Yup...dumbest thing i've done in the interest of more HP.
