Subject: Ordered KenneBell twin screw IP: Logged
Message: I finally ordered my Twin Screw. Should be here next week. Also ordered a set of the Pro Zen Motorsports ceramic coated headers. Can anyone tell me how hard it is to do headers? I was also wondering why it is illegal to remove the factory cat-converters with less than 50,000 mi. At least that is what the muffler shop told me. Anyways, I was thinking of getting some new shocks and replaceing my rotors and pads, any suggestions? Also, does anyone know of those roll up bed liners and if they are worth while?
Thanks all

Message: What is with all of the negative responses? Are you people just jealous or is there any validity to what you are saying? I also know that a centrifugal (i.e. novi 200) gives a little more HP but I wanted a reliable longer lasting S/C. As for the headers guy, how do you know that Pace Setters flow bad, got your own experience or Dyno machine?
No wonder Ford and Toyota people come on here and talk smack, you people can be real pricks even to fellow Dodge/Dakota owners. You never here Lightning guys talking crap about each other.

Message: About the cats and their removal, here is the legal scoop.
Any emission equipment that the vehicle came with from the factory MUST remain in use throughout the life of the vehicle. That means any cat, EGR, PCV, whatever.
Technically my 87 Olds with 130k is suppose to have its cat, EGR, air pump etc. still working. Obviously if you don't have an emission inspection in your state, then you can get away with it, however it doesn't make it legal.

Message: I have a 1992 Ford F150 and a 2003 F150 and have looked in to a KB. I also like some Doge trucks. Personally do not care for having to put holes in oil pan like most centrifugal units require. I would like to know how good the KB performs on any truck.

Message: I've got a roll and lock toneau cover on my QC. It came with it when I bought the truck. I really like it, but the housing that the cover rolls up into takes up some bed space. The one that I have runs about $800 or so. I like it because you can roll it up and have a bed to put stuff in, as if the cover weren't there at all. The solid toneau covers are more show than go...but that's just my opinion.

Message: Ok, since I seem to be the only one with a reason on why pacesetter sucks I'll speak up. I worked at an exhaust shop for about 2 months last summer and we installed a rather large ammount of headers on cars. We installed a pace setter on a 95 Mitsubihi Eclipse, It did not fit for s***, we had to notch the header flange to clear the thermostat housing (right next to the header on those cars) and bend the mounting bracket to get it to fit on the original bracket. They claimed it to be a "bolt on" piece but I would have to say that the average mechanic trying to do it in his driveway would give up and just wind up throwing them away, that's how much of a PITA it is. They will probably flow better than stock, just may take a little finesse to get them in there, don't be discouraged.
And now on to the Kenne Bells, Great improvements over stock, however there are better twin screws out there. I wish Whipple made their works 140 for the Dodge trucks, they have, by far the best rotor packs in their twin screw setups. The thing about kenne Bell is, they went cheap when they designed it and instead of paying royalties to Lysholm for the twin screw design they changed the rotor packs and straightened them about. Doing so decreased the adiabatic efficiency of the superchargers about 3 or 4 %, not any big deal unless you are pushing large ammounts of boost, or arn't intercooled. This decrease in blower efficiency can cause a great buildup of heat and a loss in performance over an exteneded racing period (hot lapping at the track). Also, I know that some Kenne Bells come from their factory without a boost bypass system, meaning that your blower is working 100% of the time constantly heating your intake charge. I have seen people make one pass down the track with a Kenne Bell and literally cook eggs on their blowers, not my idea of a well runing engine. Don't get me wrong, Kenne Bell is much better than stock, just not the best out there.
Thought I'd give valid reasons on why some people don't like KB or Pacesetter since no one else has.
Just my two cents.

Message: I have the kenne bell and love it. I have no ideas waht buddy was talking about boost dropping off at 4500 rpm. Not true. True the centrifuge will produce more power eventually but if its purely for the street the Kenne Bell has full boost at 2000rpm and up.

Message: I agree should be no major drop off. im not sure how dodge is but GM SC cars IE GTP if you adjust the bypass and constantly drive with boost you also hurt your gas mileage because mass air flow try to put as much fuel as possible into the motor for as much air that is coming in. ie cruizing around town under boost would hurt mileage so make sure it has a bypass.....thats my 2 cents......is that positive.....
