Subject: 180 T-stat / Engine Light IP: Logged
Message: Installed a 180 Thermostat and now I keep getting a Check Engine light. The code reads "engine not reaching 176 degrees within 20 minutes of operation" Is the T-stat actually bad and opening too soon, or is it within normal range for that setting? If so, is there a fix to eliminate the trouble code?
Thanks

I bought a Hypertech 180 degree thermostat and it opened at 195. You aren't even safe with aftermarket companies. You can try to reset your computer or purchase a new one.
If you do a search on Robertshaw Thermostats, you will find a lot of information. The Extra Performance is guaranteed to open within 2 degrees of stated temperature and the Gen II is guraranteed for 4 degrees.
