Message: Turboman,
I have just installed my flowmaster like 2 month ago. I have done a lot of research and customer satisfaction about flowmasters and dynomax. Not all of my research is from this forum.
I chose the dynomax, for cost, reliability, sound and overall a great product. If, you like AeroEngineering's system, go for it. As, far as flow rate, the flowmasters are a little behind the dynomax. I agree to that, However, i was looking for a system that did not give resonance inside the cab. This is my family car with the wife in the passenger side, it gets to be a bear with the resonance coming from her mouth, the resonance coming from the kids mouth, to add the resonance coming from the muffler would be a bear.
All those had a factor in my choice.
you comment: However the way my neighbor explained it was, it’s like the suction that a semi truck creates when it drives by at a higher rate of speed. In the muffler the faster the air moves through the center the more suction it creates on the outside, thereby drawing the air around the outside of the cone.
This would hold true if, there were no holes down the center pipe and only a nice smooth opening towards the end of the chamber. However, you got a bunch of holes that are forcing the hot gases from the center towards the outer shell thus, causing a restriction.
If, you want pure high rpm flow, put a set of Magna flows against Aero engineering. They are the highest flowing mufflers out there. Again, that was not what i was looking for.
Maybe, when i'm 60 and absent minded, midas can Aero Lube me with one of these mufflers. lol
Till then, i am staying with the good old fashion systems that works.

Message: Fellas, I am an aeronautical as well as a mechanical engineer. Whatever performance improvement that you feel is probably just a perceived performance improvement... like a woman trying a more expensive make-up, suddenly she feels prettier. But going back to the Aeroturbine muffler. The design is logical, it does work. Proof of this is we actually tried it out on a dyno using a 1994 Ford Mustang. We actually documented a 4.5% gain in torque and a 11% horsepower gain. But we did not try a different muffler such as Dynomax or others. Our results were obtained versus the stock muffler only. We will be trying it out against the Dynomax.

Message: Remember that old Wendy's commercial that went:
'Where's the beef?'
Well, Where's the dyno graph? I haven't even looked at the website, if it's there, then sorry, nevermind. And we Dak enthusiasts really need one done on a dak engine, preferrably the 4.7 MPI, :)
