Message: Well, since i can't get mine to idle LOW, I don't have that problem. WIth the 72mm TB, it started right up & it went lumpity lump like a full roller cam in a high-compression small block. But, as has been the case with the 72mm TB, it just starts surging up to 1000 then 1100 then 1200 rpm. It takes a while, like 15 minutes of driving or more, but it will just idle right back up to 1200 rpm.
The other day I put the stock unported 65mm TB back on it and it would stall at every traffic light. But once I started heel-toeing the gas, and blipping it one time, it would idle just like it was stock. Except for the lumpitylumpitylump. Which is cool as sh!t, by the way. heh.
I am trying to find a fix for the 72mm idle problem. It did it with the 70mm ,too. But I have been told to call Bruce & he's got a fix. Just got to find the time...

Message: I thought your truck was a 2001, don't you have the 68mm?
Mine only stalls right after resetting the PCM. When you idle at a light, do you feel kinda like you're bouncing in the truck a little bit? lol, I do, I noticed yesterday when looking at some bird crap on my roof while the truck warmed up that it slightly rocks back and forth at idle now. Makes me feel like I have a big V8 instead of this small one :)

Message: will the 206 cam work with stock rockers? Is there anything that needs to be done to a stock motor in order to run these cams?

Message: Waltherone... it's a 2000. Yeah, whenever I can get it to idle at 700 or 650, it rocks back & forth. Once you open up the exhaust, it'll also have a nice lump to go with the rocking. The 212's do it for sure.
Chris... you need to add the lash caps & valve springs that come with the cams in the box. Other than that, it's a drop'em in & drive affair.

Message: Now alex, you and I both know you don't need the SPRINGS :)
*looks at 16 valvesprings still in packaging*
Hey do you know how hard it would be to find someone that can machine custom springs? So that maybe we could send them some samples (those HO jeep springs that came with the cams) and they could make us CRAZY stiff springs? I will never take this engine to 6000rpm on these because of the simple fear of floating the valves... but it'd sure be nice to do after some ported heads..

Message: Mine goes to 6,000 rpms pretty frequently without any complaints at all with the HO cams and stock original springs. It's been to the rev-limiter a few times that's between 6700 and 7000 rpms (It's hard to tell the way the tach lags behind so badly) and there's still no valve float. Of course that's with just the HO cams. The bigger cams would probably necessitate some stiffer springs - like the stock HO springs. CRAZY stiff springs would probably just cause the stock hydraulic dampners to fail.

Message: Waltherone,
You don't really need a custom shop to make you springs. Valves only come in a few sizes and the springs will go around most any of them. The key is finding the correct retainers & locks to fit your valve stems & spring combo. You don't need them crazy stiff either (as Duner mentioned) because it'll just kill the lash adjusters.
Personally, I'd just like to have mine lashed a little tighter, but I just haven't had the time to seriously pursue it. Maybe over the winter I'll get time to call Marty & work the whole deal out.

Message: I was wanting to get the 212 cams and ho manifold. Do I have to upgrade anything to do that? I have a 4.7 rc, and a few mods, but I'm planning on doing these two things with some other stuff while I have the engine apart. Please tell me what is recommended to let these perform the best.

Message: Get a larger Throttlebody, get a PCM flash that removes the rev limiter/speed limiter and also bumps up the spark timing to about 27 degrees, get the HO manifold, get a 3.92 rear gear (minimum), get a 2500 stall converter, and get true dual exhaust with an x-pipe. That ought to make it into a real screamer.

Message: I have a manual so I won't need the stall converter. I was going to get the 72mm tb, the ho manifold, I have the 3.92 gears, and while I have the engine apart for the cams and manifold I'm going to get my computer flashed. I'll probably need a new clutch soon and I will have to get my exhaust redone. I will eventually have a supercharger and the shaker hood (can I have both???) and HOPEFULLY I'll see low 12's. Thanks a lot.

Message: There are ways to run the shaker hood, but the shaker will have to mount to the hood with brackets instead of to the TB or whatever it does with an NA motor. Just for reference, cams & manifold should take about 4-6 hours. It's no 3-day excursion like it is with a single cam OHV motor. Umm.... oh you should be in the high 13's with that combo that we're discussing. I am running a 14.14 with a 3.55 rear and a clubcab truck. I'd say that you could hit 13.8's in a reg cab and 3.92s. With a supercharger on there, you should have high 12's no problem and with a few tweaks to fuel & puley size, you should be in the low 12's no sweat.....
