I have a 95 dakota v-6 that runs great most of the time. About 40% of the time, I will try to start it up and it will not hold an idle, instead, dying. If I depress on the accelerator a smidgen, it will hold the idle and run ok, but that means I have to have my foot on the brake whenever I try to move in low gear because I have to shift with the accelerator depress (a little), or else the engine would stay on to put the truck in gear. I put it in dodge shop and they charged me $300 to put in on the computer and replace some parts but the problem came back in a few days. I replaced all the easy stuff. Anybody else have this problem before? Thanks, Rey

In reading about the iac, I thought it only affected cold starts. My problem keeps happening even after the truck has warmed up. I can run it 15 minutes, but unless I keep the accelerator slightly pressed, it will stall on idle. Could it still be the iac even though it does it whether the engine is cold or warm?

Check the EGR valve if you have one. This part will cause idle problems.
