I had a Quadcab Hemi by at least two truck lengths up to 90 mph in my quad Dakota with a 4.7. I was seriously disappointed in the Hemi's performance. It may be quicker in the single cab but it still aint great. And no, a Ford lightning is not a light truck. It weighs in at almost 4,700 lbs.

Having owned a 4.7 QC Dakota and just recently getting a Hemi QC Ram, the Ram is faster hands down. It pulls strong through the rev range, and has good low end power. The Hemi is definatly faster.

I have a 98 dakota Ext. cab With a 3.9l and a 5 speed, that i have just recently put a Paxton Roots style S/C on. I also have a borla cat-back exhaust system and ASE performance chip. A couple of weeks ago in my hometown, a 2003 Hemi Reg cab came to me and wanted to race. When we finally got to a place to race we laid out a start and finish (approx. 1/4 mile). A mutual friend flagged the race and another told the result at the end. i took a lousy start and he got ahead in his first gear. After i had finished spinning i shifted to 2nd and got a jump on him. At the end of the race i had got to about 105 mph , and a strong 2-3 truck lengths in front. So i do beleive that it is very possible for an R/T to beat a hemi.

I have always wondered about which is faster, I am planing to go the Strip this friday, and i will try to run against some Hemi's theirs should be a few there. But if i dont get run against one i will try to record some times on some others to give us a good idea.

But then again i gots the 4.7 and a stick rc 4x4, so i will only be racing the 4x4 hemi's hopefully. But my previous best time was a 16.3, so i am hoping to do a litle better, the truck is an 03 bone stock

Hemi RC ran the 1/4 in 15.1 at 89mph. A QC would obviously be a little slower due to the extra weight. I think it would be a good race between that and an R/T

Truck Trend has the Hemi Quad Cab clocked at 16.2 @ 85 mph in the 1/4 mile. That is very beatable by a lightly modded 4.7 quad cab Dakota. Dont get me wrong, I would love to have one but it is not a speed demon by any means. And since I have beat one, I know it is possible.

Truck trend had a 2500 QC HEMI at 16.2 at 85mph Orangedakota. The 2500 is much heavier than the 1500.

Whats the weight difference hero? I never said anything about the reg. cab, I was talking about the quad. The fact is that the full size is as aerodynamic as a barn door and even with the hemi a full size quad is not very fast.

I saved you the trouble and looked it up. There is 500# difference between a 1500 Quad and a 2500 Quad. Thats probably good for a few tenths which still leaves your speed demon hemi at 16.0 in the 1/4.

The torque curve of the hemi is so peaky that it does not good in heavy applications. Don't you wonder why a 340 HP 425 Ft-LB Harley Davidson edition can walk all over the Hemi regular cab as well as extended cab? The torque curve on the Ford 5.4 is flat and comes in at a much lower RPM. Now not to start a Ford-Dodge war, but The 5.9 360 has a much flatter torque curve but w/o the HP. I owned an R/T for several years, and loved the torque off the line, something the Hemi just doesn't have.

GUYS I HAVE SEEN THE HEMI'S AT THE TRACK AND ON THE STREET THE HEMI REGULAR CABS WALK ALL OVER THE R/T'S. MY BUDDIES' '95 5.9L X-CAB KILLS STOCK R/T'S OFF THE LINE(HE HAS A FEW MODS AND 201K MILES) BUT THE HEMI KILLS HIM OFF THE LINE. WITNESS IT FOR OURSELF AND DON'T MIND THE MAGAZINES ANY.

The 500lbs difference between the 1500QC and the 2500QC would make a HUGE difference in the 1/4 mile times. I read an article in Mopar Muscle that said for every 100lbs there is atleast a .1 second difference in 1/4 times. Why do you think people take off their tailgats and stuff to race? It's easy speed. Aerodynamics don't come in to play untill the truck reaches higher speed. From a stop to that speed, its all engine power/weight of vehicle/launch that determines how fast it is.

THE ONLY REASON THAT A FORD LIGHTING WOULD OUT RUN A HEMI IS THE SUPERCHARGER , THATS THE ONLY WAY FORD CAN MAKE ANY POWER , WHAT IF THE HEMI WAS SUPERCHARGED WHAT WOULD YOU SAY THEN !!!!
