Subject: ax-15 or nv3500??? IP: Logged
Message: I know it was a gamble but i bought a manual transmission on ebay that was supposed to be out of a 1998 dakota with a 318. I assumed it would be an nv3500 but i don't know for sure. My plans were to put it in my 1990 dakota with the '99 R/T drivetrain that is already there. From what I hear, the AX-15 won't stand a chance. Can anyone tell me how I can tell which transmission i've got?
Thanks
Ben

Message: If it definitely came out of a '98 with a 318, it's an NV3500. Do you think the seller might have been lying to you?

Message: I don't think he had a reason too. The reason I question whether or not it was an nv3500 was that I went to the local dodge dealership to get the plastic piece that holds the shifter in place on top of the transmission and the diagram for the nv3500 showed it having six mounting holes. I only have four and the diagram for the ax showed 4 mounting holes. The clerk said he could tell me which one it was if i had the vin of the truck that it came out of but couldn't tell me sh*t about what the numbers stamped all over the transmission meant. I guess I was really just worried that i got screwed. It probably is an nv3500 if you say it must be. It does say on a handwritten tag that it came out of a '98 with a 318 as was described in the ad. Thanks for your help Mr. White. That is quite a relief. i talked to you before about some parts for an auto to stick swap and you never replied back after I sent an offer. This was in reference to the clutch release mechanism and a clutch. I was hoping to keep this a low budget change since i am in college and all. I certainly did not intend to insult you by throwing out a low price. If you would send me a quote as to what you wanted for these items i would much appreciate it. I still need a pedal assembly also as well as a shifter and boot. My email is Dakota2892@aol.com. Thanks again
