Subject: HO 4.7 differences IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone know what makes the Jeep version of the 4.7 a high-output engine? And I'm wondering if they're compatable with the Dodge. I know some parts are not compatable. 265 hp in the quad cab would be nice.

Message: The main differences are 9.7 compression (HO), vs.9.3, and HO has different cams, intake, and has knock sensors, and computer. It seems that most of the guys here have picked up 15hp with the cam changes. I've heard that the 2003 4.7's use the HO intake now.

Message: So are there smog issues with the different valve lift and duration? I live in California and would be interested to know if anyone has gone with the HO cams and still passed Cali smog.
Thanks
